What We Do

Melissa:
This collection was based on jellyfish aka Cnidaria Scyphozoa Aurelia.  It is a Spring ready-to-wear collection, I was inspired by the whimsey, color, and gracefulness of the jellyfish.  I tried to translate these aspects into the designs and the overall look of my woman.  The mediums are watercolor and Photoshop.

Aubrey: The pictures below are two separate collections, the first being for a contest inspired by New York and the second is a collection inspired by the image of a moth for a sustainable collection. The first collection, Connected, is about the idea of "the dream", this is what a person is trying to connect to when the come to the Big Apple. You, our dear readers, can look forward to more from this collection because I am been made a finalist in an amazing competition for Elle magazine. The mediums are watercolor and Photoshop.

So for months we have been telling you all that we are fashion design students but giving you nothing to back that up. Well finally... Here's proof! We decided to share a few of our drawings from the past year. Hope you like them:)

This Saturday afternoon we had a little school spirit (go FIT!) and attended our schools block party "Cinco de MyFIT". Cheesy, right? However, we love it. Free food, a chance to make our own lip gloss, and hang out with our fashionable peers made for a great afternoon.

How did you all spend your Cinco de Mayo? Hope it was filled with Margaritas and mexican songs such as La Cucaracha! Oh the fun we have dancing and singing along to that.

Recently it was our dear friend Ashley had her birthday which we happily celebrated at Pranna on Madison and 8th Avenue. We enjoyed delicious food and even more delicious mimosas. Hope you enjoy the photos from that day!

It is that time of year again where we hide away from the world to final term projects. Three weeks from now it's summer time though, so wish us luck until then.

Triple Threat Part 2: Coffee Break

Aubrey: As a former Barista I know it is difficult to do latte art. The fashionable baristas at the Stumptown Coffee shop not only do it incredibly well but you don't wait ages either.

This is the second half of our afternoon out with friends. This place had such beautiful presentation we had to share it with you!

If you live in New York you understand that coffee is a way of life here. The average New Yorker is running a mile a minute all day long and cannot function without their daily jolt of caffeine. Unfortunately we have quickly fallen into the same routine with all our late nights doing school work, which leads us to our latest coffee find! Stumptown coffee, connected to the Ace Hotel on 29th and 5th. If you live in New York we highly recommend this place! Ace Hotel is filled with very fashionable people so it is fun to pass through and check out. Then Stumptown has beautiful lattes, which we did not want to drink at first because we did not want to mess up the pretty picture, when we did though it was so worth it.

How to create the perfect post? Throw on something pretty, grab some fashionable friends, go some place you love. It was a sunny, beautiful day and we went over to Central Park for a little.

Successfully or not, we snapped a few photos together the other day in Brooklyn. We were visiting a good friend of ours who showed us her favorite thrift stores and a flea market or two. It had just begun to rain when we shot these, so our friend took a few from under her umbrella which we quickly joined her under. Splashing around Brooklyn to thrift shops with good friends? Successful day.

This past Saturday, in an effort to procrastinate on the schoolwork that's staring us in the face, we spent a lot of time working on joining the social media world. It's a bit funny in a way, asking friends "how do you, what's it called, tweet?". Anyways, we officially started our Facebook Page and the joined the  Twitter Obsession, we mean started our Twitter Account. We are still new at this whole thing, so come be friendly on our sites and we will definitely stop by yours!

We also added some fun new tabs at the top, our blog is growing up! We are still working on them but you lovely people are welcome to check them out!

The last, but certainly not least, update we added to our blog is the use of larger photos. You all can put away you magnifying glasses for our posts finally! We have received comments in the past about our photos being difficult to see and we finally learned how to make them larger without overlapping the sidebar.

With all these exciting changes, we realized that there is a lot more to do! As much as we enjoy blogging, with how time consuming our schooling is sometimes, it is difficult to keep up with even our site. We were wondering how do you do it? Any tips for balancing blogging, facebook, twitter, and all the other social media sites?
