This past weekend Melissa went to visit Aubrey in Amish Country, Pennsylvania.  These photos only captured a fraction of trip. Along with frolicking in the wilderness, we ate shoe-fly pie, shopped flea markets, and attempted to pet cows. They weren't too fond of us even when we tried to coax them with ears of corn.

These are the photos from the trip we hope you enjoy them.  Most of all have a superb week!

A Touch of Home Life: Part 2

Tank-Madewell
Belt-H&M
Skirt-Forever21
Shoes-Simply Vera

Who are The Tailored Two?

In part two of home life, I will be talking about myself, Melissa.

My story starts at a small town in New Jersey, where I have lived all my life.  My small town is not very fashion savvy to say the least, however my oldest sister, sparked my interest in fashion. I really stared to pay attention to fashion magazines and began sewing basic skirts and dresses to suit the trends.

I love my family, and friends more than anything.  They keep me sane and support me, even when I loose faith in myself.

This summer I spent time trying to embrace life I went kayaking, fishing, biking, and spent quality time with my sisters and grandmother cooking in the kitchen. I have also landed an internship with Cache, which I commute into the city for everyday.  I am currently still with them and learning so much!

Now I am a junior at the Fashion Institute of Technology, studying fashion design.  It has been a rough road, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.  Life is an open book, and the best chapters are yet to come!

A Touch of Home Life: Part 1

Recently Melissa and I were talking blog talk. Since we are college roommates, during the summer we are not together and we have been trying to think of creative ways to pull our posts together even being 3 hours apart. That's when we realized, you have no idea who we really are!

So who are we?

In part one I will be talking about me, Aubrey.

My story is mainly based in little old Lancaster County, PA or as most people might call it, Amish Country (note the never ending corn in the photo above). Needless to say, my fashion sense did not come from here. I just couldn't find a way to rock an Amish bonnet.

My family and friends are the most important thing in my life. The pretty girl in the second photo is my sister, Nikki. She is my best friend, confident, and partner in crime. I have no idea what I would do without her; I am the luckiest. This year we had a new addition to our family, Eva, a foreign exchange student from Italy. Currently, my sister is enjoying all the gelato and pizza in the world while visiting her. Rough summer, huh?

My loving and supportive family led me to where I am in life today. They believed in my crazy artistic and fashion passion. I have been drawing ever since I can remember and started sewing what I can only assume were meant to be outfits for my American girl dolls as soon as I could figure out how. In high school, while everyone else was trying to go to school for steady jobs I had my mind set on fashion. Now I am in my final year at Fashion Institute and cannot wait to see what happens from here!

On our most recent adventure in the city, we discovered our new favorite place for food and drinks! A lovely place along the water, the 79th Street Boat Basin has an enclosed restaurant area as well as a deck that over looks the Hudson River. We enjoyed sandwiches, a drink, and made some new friends. Anyone who is in an around the city, we highly recommend stopping by for a bite!

As for our looks for the evening, we had both been working all day so we chose slightly more relaxed looks and decided to accent them with scarves.

We wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Yes we realize Fleet Week has already passed but that does not mean we can not still be inspired to dress in our interpretation of Nautical. We both chose clean looks with pops of red. Trends come and go but it seems year to year Nautical is timeless and we enjoyed accessorizing our looks for such a fun theme. How do you feel about nautical looks/ how do you do it?

Also, as you can see The Two have been separated for summer break. Our photos for the next couple of months will likely be done independently. Really it does not affect anything  but just thought you all should know!

Hope you all have a superb week.

As always, we love you all!

What We Do

Melissa:
This collection was based on jellyfish aka Cnidaria Scyphozoa Aurelia.  It is a Spring ready-to-wear collection, I was inspired by the whimsey, color, and gracefulness of the jellyfish.  I tried to translate these aspects into the designs and the overall look of my woman.  The mediums are watercolor and Photoshop.

Aubrey: The pictures below are two separate collections, the first being for a contest inspired by New York and the second is a collection inspired by the image of a moth for a sustainable collection. The first collection, Connected, is about the idea of "the dream", this is what a person is trying to connect to when the come to the Big Apple. You, our dear readers, can look forward to more from this collection because I am been made a finalist in an amazing competition for Elle magazine. The mediums are watercolor and Photoshop.

So for months we have been telling you all that we are fashion design students but giving you nothing to back that up. Well finally... Here's proof! We decided to share a few of our drawings from the past year. Hope you like them:)
