This post is in dedication to all those things that complete the perfect outfit, a necklace, the heels, arm candy, and last but not least the handbag! We were recently approached about the solution to all the knicks and damages that happens over time as we give our handbags lovin'. Read on to find out how to do this!
Handbag heaven
Day trip to the spa? Lovely. Full body massage? No.
There’s a new wave of spas promising to rejuvenate and beautify leathery old skin, but these spas are not performing extreme cosmetic procedures – at least, not on us. This new phenomenon is the handbag spa, offering a total makeover for a girl’s best-friend - the handbag.
The words ‘handbag spa’ in themselves might conjure ideas of lavish indulgence, and in a world that can sometimes feel saturated with spas – from the humble foot spa to Harrods’ in-store doggy day-spa – this might seem like just another way for the filthy rich to squander their money. But far from a frivolous endeavour, there’s a very thrifty ethos behind these ‘spas’.
While few of us would hesitate in reheeling a pair of inexpensive shoes, even fewer would consider having our
precious handbags repaired. We’re more likely to simply resign them to the back of the wardrobe once they’ve lost their sparkle. This is hardly surprising, until now there just hasn’t been a widely available specialist service for handbag repairs.
Enter the handbag spa. Most companies operate online and offer a service that is not so far from a high street cobblers. Firstly, you send details of any repairs that need doing for a quote, then mail your bag to their HQ and ping! Back it comes a week or so later, good as new.
The real difference of course, between using a handbag spa and popping down to your local cobbler, is that these companies specialise in the treatment of luxury and designer goods – you won’t find a pile of Mulberrys stacked up in the back of a grubby workshop.
But the beauty of the handbag spa is that as well as nipping and tucking stretched leather, removing stains and generally restoring bags, they also offer a range of services to enhance and modify your bag. State of the art ‘spectrophotometer’ colour recognition means they can not only restore the colour of your bag, they can also dye, paint and polish your bag to give it a complete makeover, leaving your bag not only as good as, but possibly even better than new.
We wish you all a wonderful week!
